Gintama Live Action | Review

 Are You Fans of Gintama??

I have been a fan of the Gintama anime and manga for a long time, so I was curious to see how the live action adaptation would turn out. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the movie captured the essence of the original series, with its hilarious comedy, action-packed scenes, and heartfelt moments. The movie follows the Benizakura arc, which is one of the most popular and iconic stories in the Gintama franchise. It involves Gintoki and his friends trying to stop a conspiracy involving a cursed sword and a mysterious enemy.

The movie did a great job of recreating the characters, settings, and atmosphere of the anime and manga. The cast was well-chosen and delivered their roles with passion and charisma. Shun Oguri as Gintoki was especially impressive, as he nailed the character’s personality, expressions, and voice. Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura and Masaki Suda as Shinpachi were also very convincing as Gintoki’s loyal and quirky companions. The movie also featured many other familiar faces from the series, such as Hijikata, Katsura, Elizabeth, and Sadaharu, who added more fun and excitement to the story.

The movie also managed to balance the comedy and the drama of the series, without losing its charm and originality. The movie had many references and parodies to other anime and manga, such as Dragon Ball, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Naruto, which made the movie more enjoyable and relatable for the fans. The movie also had some serious and emotional moments, such as Gintoki’s past, Kagura’s family, and the fate of Utsuro, the main antagonist. The movie did not shy away from showing the violence and the tragedy of the story, but also did not forget to inject some humor and hope.

The movie was not perfect, however, as it had some flaws and limitations. The CGI and the editing were sometimes noticeable and awkward, which affected the quality and the realism of the movie. The fight scenes were also not very impressive or creative, as they mostly relied on simple swordplay and explosions. The movie also had to cut some scenes and characters from the original arc, which might disappoint some fans who wanted to see more of their favorites. The movie also did not explain some of the background and the context of the story, which might confuse some viewers who were not familiar with the series.

Overall, I think the Gintama live action movie was a successful and satisfying adaptation of the anime and manga. It was a fun and entertaining movie that captured the spirit and the humor of the series, while also delivering a compelling and touching story. It was a movie that appealed to both the fans and the newcomers of the series, and a movie that honored and celebrated the legacy of the Gintama franchise. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes comedy, action, and drama, and who wants to see a live action movie that does justice to its source material. I would rate this movie 8.5 out of 10 πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–
