Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun Live Action

 Review Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster) is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Shizuku Mizutani, a cold and studious girl who meets Haru Yoshida, a rebellious and eccentric boy who has a reputation for being a troublemaker. Haru falls in love with Shizuku at first sight and declares her as his friend, while Shizuku is initially annoyed by his clingy behavior and tries to focus on her studies. However, as they spend more time together, they begin to understand each other better and develop a genuine friendship that gradually turns into romance.

The movie is directed by Shô Tsukikawa, who also directed the popular live action adaptation of Your Lie in April. The cast includes Masaki Suda as Haru and Tao Tsuchiya as Shizuku, both of whom are well-known actors in Japan. They have a good chemistry on screen and portray their characters’ personalities and emotions convincingly. The movie also features Yûki Furukawa as Yûzan Yoshida, Haru’s estranged older brother, and Elaiza Ikeda as Asako Natsume, Shizuku’s beautiful but socially awkward friend.

The movie follows the main plot of the manga, but also adds some original scenes and changes some details to fit the live action format. For example, the movie shows more of Haru’s past and his relationship with his brother, and also introduces a new character named Shôko, who is Haru’s childhood friend and a potential love rival for Shizuku. The movie also has a different ending from the manga, which may surprise some fans of the original story.

The movie is a fun and heartwarming watch for fans of the manga and the anime, as well as for those who enjoy romantic comedies in general. The movie captures the essence of the manga, which is the contrast and the compatibility between the two main characters, who are both smart but have different approaches to life and love. The movie also has a lot of humorous moments, especially from Haru’s antics and reactions, as well as some touching scenes that show the growth and the bond of the characters. The movie has a bright and colorful visual style, and the soundtrack is upbeat and catchy.

Overall, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is a satisfying and enjoyable live action adaptation of a popular manga. It is a movie that will make you laugh, cry, and smile. I recommend it to anyone who likes romance, comedy, and cute characters. I give it a rating of 8 out of 10.
