ReLIFE is a 2017 Japanese film that adapts the popular manga and anime series of the same name by Yayoiso. The film stars Nakagawa Taishi as Arata Kaizaki, a 27-year-old unemployed man who is given a chance to relive his high school days by taking a mysterious pill that makes him look 10 years younger. 

He joins the ReLIFE Laboratory’s Social Reintegration Program, which aims to help him find a new career and a new life. However, he soon realizes that his fake high school life is not as easy as he thought, especially when he falls in love with his classmate Chizuru Hishiro, played by Taira Yuna.

The film follows the main plot of the manga and anime, but condenses it into a 2-hour runtime. This means that some of the characters and events are omitted or changed, which may disappoint some fans of the original source material. 

The film also lacks some of the humor and charm that made the manga and anime so enjoyable. The film focuses more on the romance and drama aspects of the story, which are not very convincing due to the lack of chemistry between the leads and the rushed development of their relationship.

The film does have some positive points, such as the cast’s performance and the cinematography. Nakagawa Taishi does a good job portraying Arata’s awkwardness and maturity, while Taira Yuna captures Chizuru’s coldness and innocence. 

The supporting cast, such as Takasugi Mahiro as Oga Kazuomi and Ikeda Elaiza as Kariu Rena, also deliver their roles well. The film also has some beautiful shots of the city and the school, creating a realistic and nostalgic atmosphere.

Overall, ReLIFE is a mediocre adaptation that fails to capture the essence and appeal of the manga and anime. It is not a bad film, but it is not a memorable one either. It may be worth watching for fans of the actors or the genre, but it is not a must-see for fans of the original ReLIFE. I would rate it 7 out of 10. ❤👀
