Kimetsu no Yaiba

Kimetsu no Yaiba is a popular manga and anime series that follows the adventures of  Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered by demons and his sister Nezuko is turned into one. The series has 11 story arcs, each with its own plot, characters, and themes. Here is a brief review of each arc: đź‘€
  • Final Selection Arc (Episodes 1-5): This is the first arc of the series, where we are introduced to the main characters and the concept of the Demon Slayer Corps. Tanjiro trains under the guidance of Sakonji Urokodaki, a former Hashira (the highest rank of demon slayers), and participates in the Final Selection, a survival test that determines who can join the Corps. He also meets Nezuko, his sister who has been turned into a demon but still retains some of her humanity, and Giyu Tomioka, a Hashira who spares Nezuko’s life and encourages Tanjiro to become a demon slayer. This arc sets up the premise and the tone of the series, showing the harsh reality of the demon slayer’s world and the bond between Tanjiro and Nezuko.
  • Kidnapper’s Bog Arc (Episodes 6-7): This is the second arc of the series, where Tanjiro embarks on his first official mission as a demon slayer. He investigates a series of mysterious disappearances of young women in a nearby town, and discovers that they are being kidnapped by a swamp demon who can split into three bodies. Tanjiro and Nezuko team up to fight the demon and rescue the women, demonstrating their teamwork and skills. This arc also introduces the idea of blood demon arts, special abilities that some demons possess, and the concept of demon ranks, which indicate their strength and status.
  • Asakusa Arc (Episodes 8-10): This is the third arc of the series, where Tanjiro travels to Asakusa, Tokyo, in search of clues about Muzan Kibutsuji, the first and most powerful demon who is responsible for turning Nezuko and many others into demons. Tanjiro encounters Muzan in a crowded street, but is unable to attack him due to his disguise and influence. Muzan senses Tanjiro’s presence and sends two of his minions, a temari demon and an arrow demon, to kill him. Tanjiro also meets Tamayo and Yushiro, two friendly demons who have renounced eating humans and are researching a cure for demonization. They offer to help Tanjiro by analyzing the blood of Muzan’s minions, hoping to find a weakness in Muzan’s cells. This arc reveals more about Muzan’s character and his connection to Tanjiro’s earrings, which resemble the symbol of the Sun Breathing, an ancient and powerful sword technique that Muzan fears.
  • Tsuzumi Mansion Arc (Episodes 11-14): This is the fourth arc of the series, where Tanjiro meets two of his future companions, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Zenitsu is a cowardly and nervous demon slayer who specializes in Thunder Breathing, a sword technique that allows him to move at lightning speed. Inosuke is a wild and aggressive demon slayer who wears a boar mask and wields two serrated swords. He practices Beast Breathing, a sword technique that mimics the movements of animals. The three of them end up in a mansion that is controlled by a drum demon, who can manipulate the rooms and create illusions by hitting his drums. They have to work together to overcome the demon’s traps and defeat him, while also rescuing the people who are trapped inside the mansion. This arc showcases the personalities and abilities of Zenitsu and Inosuke, as well as their interactions with Tanjiro and Nezuko. It also introduces the concept of the Twelve Kizuki, the elite group of demons who serve under Muzan and have a number engraved on their eyes. The drum demon was a former member of the Twelve Kizuki, but was demoted by Muzan for being weak.
  • Mount Natagumo Arc (Episodes 15-21): This is the fifth arc of the series, where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are sent to Mount Natagumo, a mountain that is infested with spiders and demons. They encounter a family of spider demons who have taken over the mountain and turned some of the demon slayers into their puppets. Tanjiro faces the eldest son of the family, who uses a blood demon art that allows him to control threads. Zenitsu confronts the eldest daughter of the family, who injects him with a poison that turns him into a spider. Inosuke battles the mother of the family, who can manipulate the movements of her puppets with her threads. They also meet the Hashira, the nine strongest demon slayers in the Corps, who arrive to assist them and exterminate the remaining demons. This arc is one of the most intense and emotional arcs in the series, as it tests the limits and the resolve of the main characters. It also reveals more about the history and the hierarchy of the Demon Slayer Corps, as well as the personalities and the skills of the Hashira.
  • Rehabilitation Training Arc (Episodes 22-26): This is the sixth arc of the series, where Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke recover from their injuries at the Butterfly Estate, the residence of Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira. They undergo a rehabilitation training program that aims to improve their physical and mental strength, as well as their breathing techniques. They also learn more about the Hashira and their backgrounds, as well as the origin and the secrets of the Nichirin Blades, the special swords that can kill demons. This arc is a breather arc that focuses on the character development and the comedy of the main characters, as well as the relationships and the conflicts among the Hashira. Enmu traps the passengers and the demon slayers in a deep sleep, where they are confronted by their subconscious and their desires. Tanjiro and the others have to wake up and fight Enmu, while also protecting the innocent people on the train. This arc is a thrilling and emotional roller coaster, as it showcases the power and the charisma of Rengoku, as well as the bond and the growth of the main characters. It also features one of the most epic and tragic battles in the series, as Rengoku faces off against the Upper Three of the Twelve Kizuki, Akaza, who is one of the strongest and most ruthless demons in existence.
  • Entertainment District Arc (Episodes 34-44): This is the eighth arc of the series, and the current arc of the anime. It follows Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko as they join Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira, on a mission to infiltrate the entertainment district of Yoshiwara, where they suspect that a demon is hiding. They disguise themselves as women and work as courtesans in different brothels, where they encounter various dangers and challenges. They also meet the Upper Six of the Twelve Kizuki, Daki and Gyutaro, who are siblings and share a blood demon art that allows them to create and manipulate cloth. They have to fight the two demons, who have killed many people and demon slayers in the district, while also saving the courtesans and the customers from their wrath. This arc is a colorful and exciting arc, as it explores the culture and the society of the entertainment district, as well as the personal and professional lives of the courtesans. It also reveals more about the past and the motivations of Tengen, Daki, and Gyutaro, as well as the secrets and the strategies of the Upper Kizuki.
These are the arcs that have been released or announced for the Kimetsu no Yaiba series so far. The series has three more arcs that have not been adapted into anime yet, namely the Swordsmith Village Arc, the Hashira Training Arc, and the Final Battle Arc.
